But the Node 2i limitation is on file size (600kB max) rather than resolution.
What's up with that?Ĭlick to expand.Another update on my earlier note about qobuz downloads is that the album art (typically 1400 x 1400 pixels) is higher resolution than the Bluesound Node 2i can handle.
Since I have a lot of these to purchase and download (and hopefully they have fast servers) does qobuz offer quantity discounts or ever offer x% off coupons for downloaded music?Īnd a general observation: their prices for 16/44.1 full album downloads are sometimes quite a bit higher than you could buy the physical CD for and rip it yourself in a few minutes. I couldn't find a guarantee they are not upsampled MP3's, but since they generally sell higher res than 16/44.1 (and don't even sell MP3 files) it's probably fairly safe to assume they are what they say they are, right? If I were to purchase one of these 16/44.1 individual songs as a FLAC file from qobuz, would its checksum match the bit-perfect verified checksum if I ripped the same song from a physical CD via dBPoweramp? Or in other words, how do they create these 16/44.1 FLAC files?
Does that sound right?Īnd in general it seems it's $1.49 for individual 16/44.1 songs on qobuz (most but not all albums seem to be available as individual tracks). My primary interest is in the classic rock category, and after ruling out the sites that have slim pickings in that category, or that only allow MP3 downloads, or only allow full album purchases, or that mostly only sell higher res than 16/44.1 (the premium is just too high and not worth it to me), the only thing left was qobuz's download site. I spent a couple hours looking through about a dozen different music sites that allow download purchases. Instead I just want to buy individual songs mostly (full albums in a few cases), as 16/44.1 FLAC files. I could but don't want to just digitize the cassettes since that would be a lengthy process and with mediocre quality.
So I'd like to get copies of the songs from those mix tapes I don't have, to store on hard drive in my digital music collection. I have a large cassette tape collection of recorded music from the 80's and early 90's including a bunch of mix tapes with songs I don't have the vinyl or CD for.
